Soori’s Mandaadi has made a powerful start on Netflix. The Tamil sports drama recorded 2.2 million views in its first week on the platform, ranking No.3 among the top non-English films globally and No.1 among all films in India for the week of October 5 to 11.

What makes the number even more impressive is that Mandaadi started streaming only on October 8. It reached these numbers in just four days.

Global Top 10: Mandaadi at No.3

Netflix Top 10 Non-English Films, Global (October 5 to 11)

  • 1. Acid: 3.5M views
  • 2. Crazy Rich, Incredibly Broke: 3.2M views
  • 3. Mandaadi: 2.2M views
  • 4. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle I: 2.0M views
  • 5. What a Father!: 1.7M views

Mandaadi finished ahead of the Japanese anime blockbuster Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which was in its fourth week on the chart. It was also the highest-ranked Indian film in the global list, with Reporting Live at No.6 and the Malayalam film Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar at No.10.

India Top 10: Mandaadi Leads

In India, Mandaadi topped the Netflix Top 10 Movies chart in its very first week, ahead of Reporting Live at No.2 and Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar at No.3.

Interestingly, Anand Deverakonda’s Epic, which arrived on Netflix the same week amid heavy trolling, also entered the India chart at No.6. The negative buzz has clearly pushed curious viewers to check it out, even if the reactions have been harsh.

A Theatrical Hit That Keeps Winning

Mandaadi’s OTT success follows a strong theatrical run. Released in theatres on September 10, the film collected around ₹130 Cr gross worldwide, a huge number for a Soori-led film and a big step up from his earlier work. The film also came out on top against bigger releases during its run.

Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, Mandaadi is a sports drama set in the world of sailboat racing along the Tamil Nadu coast. Soori leads the film, with Suhas playing a key role and Mahima Nambiar as the female lead.

Telugu Audiences Get a Second Chance

Netflix has released Mandaadi in Tamil along with dubbed versions in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. This gives audiences outside Tamil Nadu, especially in the Telugu States, the chance to discover the film, and that wider reach has clearly helped it climb the charts so quickly.

With a full week of streaming still to be counted, Mandaadi has a strong chance of climbing even higher on the global chart next week.

Soori’s Big Year

From comedian to one of Tamil cinema’s most bankable leading men, Soori’s journey has been remarkable. After Viduthalai and Garudan, Mandaadi has now given him both a theatrical blockbuster and a global OTT hit, taking his reach well beyond Tamil audiences.
